Vientiane, Laos – February 19, 2025 – The ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) has officially launched its Threat Intelligence Sharing Working Group (TIS WG) during its 11th Board of Directors Meeting, held at 18 Feb 2025 at Crowne Plaza Hotel , Vientiane, Laos. This significant initiative underscores AJCCA’s commitment to fostering cybersecurity collaboration across the ASEAN region.
The meeting, chaired by AJCCA Chairman Rudi Lumanto from Indonesia, marked the alliance’s first in-person board meeting of the year, following last year’s virtual engagements. The board reviewed the achievements of 2024 and set the agenda for 2025, building on previous initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity resilience in ASEAN and Japan.
TIS WG: Strengthening ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation
The newly launched TIS WG comprises five cybersecurity communities or associations from five ASEAN countries. Recognizing the growing importance of threat intelligence (TI) activities, AJCCA has prioritized TI as a core program since its inception.
Chairman Rudi Lumanto emphasized the strategic advantages of TI initiatives, stating:
“In addition to providing immediate benefits to AJCCA members, threat intelligence activities can be conducted efficiently without requiring large resources. Last year’s ASEAN Threat Landscape Report, particularly its insights on ransomware, received highly positive feedback and requests from various stakeholders.”
The TIS WG is set to establish a culture of sharing threat intelligence-related knowledge, activities, and systems within AJCCA’s network while ensuring minimal administrative overhead. The group aims to gradually enhance collaboration through structured intelligence sharing, with an ultimate goal of developing a joint platform for threat intelligence exchange and analysis.
Looking Ahead: A More Resilient ASEAN Cybersecurity Ecosystem
As cyber threats continue to evolve, the formation of the TIS WG represents a pivotal step toward enhancing regional cooperation in cybersecurity intelligence sharing. AJCCA remains dedicated to fostering a stronger, more interconnected cybersecurity ecosystem through practical, scalable, and resource-efficient initiatives.
With the TIS WG now in place, AJCCA is poised to lead the way in threat intelligence collaboration across ASEAN and Japan, reinforcing its role as a key enabler of regional cybersecurity resilience.
