Jakarta, August 5, 2025 – The Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) Workshop 2025 held today at The Groove Suites Hotel, Jakarta, drew key cybersecurity officials from across ASEAN, in a dynamic session featuring Lito Averia, President of PHCert and board member of AJCCA. In his presentation, Averia emphasized the urgent need for implementing Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) to safeguard Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) amidst increasingly complex global cyber threats.
Zero Trust, Averia explained, is not merely a security framework, but a holistic strategy grounded in the principle of “never trust, always verify.” His session detailed a phased roadmap for Zero Trust implementation tailored to the high-stakes environment of CII, encompassing people, processes, and technologies. With CII being vital to national security, economic stability, and public health, he urged ASEAN nations to adopt structured plans that integrate identity verification, secure gateways, automated policy enforcement, and real-time threat analytics.
The workshop also marked the active participation of the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA), in conjunction with the 3rd ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Working Group Meeting. AJCCA announced its commitment to ongoing regional collaboration with a series of quarterly board meetings following this workshop. This initiative underscores a shared regional resolve to fortify cybersecurity resilience through trusted partnerships and modern strategies like Zero Trust.
