August 16, 2024 (Tokyo, Japan) - The ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) launches today the inaugural AJCCA Cyber Resilience Awards (ACRA), a prestigious event dedicated to celebrate and recognize individuals with outstanding contributions to cybersecurity and cyber resilience across Asia, with a special focus on Japan and ASEAN countries.
“As digital transformation accelerates, the need for robust cybersecurity measures becomes ever more critical. These awards honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to enhancing cyber resilience, ensuring the security and stability of our digital landscape,” said Dr. Ludi Lumanto, AJCCA Founding Chairman.
“Across Japan and ASEAN countries, the awards will highlight the diverse and dynamic approaches to cybersecurity and cyber resilience, from emerging digital economies to established technology hubs,” Dr. Lumanto added. “By showcasing successful initiatives, the awards promote regional collaboration, encourage capacity building, and set benchmarks for excellence that drive the entire region forward.”
Dr. Hiroshi Esaki, main proponent of ACRA, said that the initiative, which will celebrate individuals who have championed cybersecurity and cyber resilience in Japan and ASEAN countries can have numerous positive impacts.
“We believe that recognizing the efforts of cybersecurity leaders and their initiatives can inspire others to follow suit, and eventually promote a Culture of Excellence in cybersecurity in the region,” Prof. Esaki, who is also the president of the Japan Network Security Association (JNSA), explained. “ACRA can also boost the morale of cybersecurity professionals and institutions, by acknowledging their hard work and dedication. Highlighting innovative practices and successful strategies will also encourage the adoption and development of new approaches to cybersecurity and cyber resilience.”
“ACRA will recognize individuals and their bodies of work from 2019 to August 2024 in cybersecurity and cyber resilience in the AJCCA countries,” said Sam Jacoba, AJCCA Head of Strategic Communications and Brand. “The nominees will be evaluated based on five criteria that are anchored on the Vision, Mission and Values of AJCCA. These are the following Dynamic Leadership; Resilient; Trustworthy; Respectful, and; Collaborative.”
Jacoba, who is also ACRA Lead Coordinator, further explained that the founding Communities of Practice of the AJCCA will be the sole nominators, validators and reviewers of nominees per country. They will then select their respective country winners, who will all be part of the finalists that will be evaluated by the ACRA main jury. Among the nine country winners, the ACRA main jury will select one Most Distinguished Awardee and two Distinguished Awardees.
The ACRA will be held on October 17, 2024, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre in Singapore. To attend the awards, the nine country winners will be given free roundtrip airfare and accommodations in Singapore from their home countries.
