Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, Head of BSSN, Receives AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award 2026

BANGKOK, Thailand, October 29, 2026 — Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, Head of Indonesia’s National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), has been honored with the AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award (ACRA) 2026, recognizing his visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to strengthening Indonesia’s national cybersecurity ecosystem and cyber resilience.

The award was presented as part of the 3rd Annual Conference of the ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA), held in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together cybersecurity leaders, government representatives, industry professionals, and cybersecurity communities from ASEAN member states and Japan.

The AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award (ACRA) is one of AJCCA important program and the alliance’s key initiatives established to recognize individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to advancing cybersecurity across ASEAN and Japan.

The program acknowledges achievements in three major areas: technical excellence, cybersecurity leadership, and community development. These include professionals working behind the scenes to protect critical digital infrastructure, leaders who inspire institutional transformation and advance national cybersecurity policies, and individuals or organizations dedicated to strengthening cybersecurity communities through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building.

Nugroho Sulistyo Budi was recognized particularly for his strong and visionary leadership in establishing the legal, governance, and institutional foundations needed to strengthen Indonesia’s national cyber resilience.

Under his leadership, BSSN has accelerated the development of Cyber Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs), locally known as Tim Tanggap Insiden Siber (TTIS), across government institutions and regional administrations.

One of the most significant achievements has been the expansion of institutional cyber incident response readiness to approximately 97 percent of central and regional government institutions, compared with approximately 50 percent at the end of 2024. This remarkable progress represents an important milestone in Indonesia’s efforts to build a coordinated and sustainable national cybersecurity response ecosystem.

The achievement is particularly important as Indonesia continues to accelerate its digital transformation. Establishing incident response teams across government institutions strengthens the country’s ability to detect, coordinate, respond to, and recover from cyber incidents while protecting essential public services and digital infrastructure.

Beyond institutional development, Nugroho has also emphasized the importance of cybersecurity governance, technical capability, human resource readiness, and cross-sector collaboration. His approach reflects the understanding that cyber resilience cannot be achieved through technology alone, but requires effective leadership, clear institutional responsibilities, and sustained cooperation among stakeholders.

In October 2026, BSSN further reinforced this commitment by inaugurating 59 additional cyber incident response teams representing central government institutions, regional administrations, healthcare, and education sectors. The initiative highlights the agency’s continued efforts to strengthen cybersecurity readiness at both national and local levels.

Through the ACRA program, AJCCA seeks to highlight the importance of strong cybersecurity leadership as a fundamental pillar of national and regional resilience. Effective leaders not only respond to emerging threats but also establish policies, institutions, and collaborative mechanisms that enable societies to anticipate and withstand future cyber challenges.

Nugroho’s achievements demonstrate how visionary leadership, supported by institutional reform and sustained capacity building, can translate national cybersecurity priorities into measurable progress.

His recognition also reflects AJCCA’s broader commitment to promoting regional cooperation and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities across ASEAN and Japan. As cyber threats increasingly transcend national borders, strong national cybersecurity institutions provide an essential foundation for trusted information sharing, coordinated incident response, and collective regional resilience.

The AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award 2026 recognizes not only Nugroho Sulistyo Budi’s leadership achievements, but also Indonesia’s continued progress toward a stronger, more coordinated, and resilient national cybersecurity ecosystem.

Through this recognition, AJCCA hopes to inspire cybersecurity leaders throughout ASEAN and Japan to continue strengthening institutional capabilities, fostering collaboration, and building a safer and more resilient digital future for the region.
